More shooting

So I haven’t kept up with my blog as I had intended sadly as life got in the way. I have, however, in the interim been shooting a fair bit and attended Jake Hicks’s latest workshop.

This year has been about learning a new skill in photography and developing my eye for that. I don’t think I’ve done too bad in the time but still have plenty to learn and loads to take forward into next years shooting.

Next year I want to try and bring out my own style more. I want to get to the point where I can have an image in my head and be able to realise that image with lighting and colour.

I also want to get back into doing some landscape photography and learn a new aspect of photography, astrophotography!

So here are a few shots from my shoots between my last post and now.

I’m fast learning that this setup isn’t easy and it is very different every time. I would prefer more edge light than what I have here, I don’t thing they are quite far enough forward and the angle isn’t quite right, maybe could have done with a little more power too. I had a great shoot with Louise her hair is perfect for gels! Maybe the side lights are a little hot for the skin, I think that’s the only think that I would look to change for this, maybe give them a little less power. Here I’m using the lensbaby compose pro which is manual focus with the sweet 50 optic in it. So getting focus was rather challenging even with focus peaking. Finally some experimentation, love the colour combo, as pointed out by Mr Hicks the orange could do with being a bit lower as I.m getting muddier tones lower down. I did manage not to blow out the blue though.  Approximate settings, f5.6, iso100, 1/125
